What started out as a gliding day at RAF Ternhill looked like being a wasted trip due to bad weather.

However, as usual in the Air Training Corps, something was made of the day...Read on....

So, 6 cadets and two long-suffering staff turned up to be greeted with thick fog and low cloud; there would be no flying!

632 VGS staff were as frustrated as we all were. They took the cadets out to spend time with an aircraft.

Below we see three cadets having a chat with a pilot about wings, lift and all that.

One cadet seemed to think that the tail plane is a height gauge!

After this cold but interesting visit staff offered the cadets a choice; go home or travel over to the RAF mueseum at RAF Cosford; they chose the latter.

Here we were afforded free parking; our thanks to museum staff.

The cadets spent a couple of hours touring the exibits.

Our corporal "chatted up" the staff in one building who opened up the Jet Provost exibit , sat three lucky cadets in the pilot seats and explained how it all worked.

One building which they found particularly interesting was the renovations area.

Here we see a rather battered Wellington bomber.
